The City of Medicine Hat is lifting the final high river flow precautions put in place on June 2, 2026 in response to increased river flow rates.
All City aquatic facilities, with the exception of Echo Dale Regional Park, have now resumed operations. City operated pools had been temporarily closed to allow staff to connect with supports and resources following the tragic incident at Echo Dale Regional Park.
The City of Medicine Hat is deeply saddened to confirm that a serious incident occurred at Echo Dale Regional Park, resulting in the death of a child. In response to this incident, all City-operated pools and aquatic facilities will be closed effective immediately and will remain closed until further notice.
Employees, contractors, suppliers, and members of the public now have a confidential third-party hotline and online portal through MNP Ethics Alert to report suspected wrongdoing involving the City of Medicine Hat.
