Medicine Hat – April 23 to 29 is National Volunteer Week and cities across Canada will be marking it with events and activities to celebrate the generous spirits of their volunteers. Medicine Hat has a rich, vibrant volunteering community, and the Volunteer Appreciation Event Planning Committee of Medicine Hat and Surrounding Area is looking forward to an evening dedicated to those who contribute so much to making our city a community of choice.
A Community Volunteer Appreciation event will be held on April 25, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Medicine Hat Lodge. This celebration includes dinner, generously subsidized by the Lodge, and entertainment provided by Jack Humeny & Elly Berger. This is an opportunity for volunteers from all organizations to be acknowledged and thanked for their wonderful work and tireless contributions.
Volunteers are encouraged to register and pick up a complimentary ticket at the Strathcona Centre, 1150 5 Street SE. The Strathcona Centre’s hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are a limited number of tickets available and they are first come, first served. We anticipate 400 volunteers at this event.
The Volunteer Appreciation Event Planning Committee is comprised of leaders from various organizations who depend upon volunteers including: St. John Ambulance, Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society, Canadian Red Cross, YMCA of Medicine Hat, Santa Claus Fund, Medicine Hat and District Food Bank, City of Medicine Hat, and Canadian Mental Health Association Alberta Southeast Region.
