The City of Medicine Hat is excited to announce funding for upgrades to the Police Point Park Interpretive Centre. The Medicine Hat Accommodation Association (MHAA) will present a cheque for $270,000 to Mayor Ted Clugston at 1:30 pm Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Centre.
“This is a wonderful gift to residents and visitors to Medicine Hat,” says Mayor Ted Clugston. “It’s no secret that Police Point Park is one of my favorite places, and I know that these improvements will encourage more people to visit this amazing four seasons natural reserve.”
Proposed facility upgrades include refurbishing the exhibit area, improving washroom accessibility, replacement of front entrance door as well as viewpoint wooden platform and seating area.
“The MHAA created the Legacy Projects to allow us to invest back into the community growing the tourism industry with lasting attractions that Hatters and visitors alike could enjoy,” says Executive Director, Elisha Ammann. “This will enhance the existing facility, allowing further programs and attraction development.”
Grasslands Naturalists is the operator of the facility and has also applied for funding to expand the scope of the project.
Work is expected to commence summer/fall of 2017.
