Ice Build-Up on Trail to Saamis Archeological Site
Southeast side of Kin Coulee TransCanada Tunnel
Posted Date: 1/6/2017

With the recent cold weather, freezing water run off has occurred causing ice build-up on the trail leading to Saamis Archeological Site (off leash dog park trail access), located on the south side of the tunnel under the Trans Canada Bridge in Kin Coulee Park.

This has created a hazard for trail users. The trail and access to the Saamis Archeological Site has been temporarily closed while staff clean up and investigate solution.  Once clean up occurs the trail will be re-opened.

People are reminded that there are other access points to the Saamis Archeological Site, from the Saamis Teepee parking lot and on Southwest Drive SW.

There are also other options for designated off leash areas located throughout the city that dogs and their owners can enjoy.  To view these areas, please visit the City of Medicine Hat’s website at http://www.medicinehat.ca

Thank you for your cooperation and patience while we find a solution.
