Now Hiring Gas Distribution Technician
The Gas Distribution department employs competent and experienced personnel to provide customer service and maintain gas distribution facilities in order to ensure a safe and reliable system for their 26,000 customers. We are currently seeking an experienced Gas Distribution Technician who has relevant experience in gas regulation, measurement, and gas line locating for a permanent position within the department. This senior level position is responsible for responding to routine and emergency gas odour and carbon monoxide call-outs, performing meter changes and maintenance, and providing assistance in the proper installation, testing, calibration, repair of the gas measurement equipment, gas detection and other instruments used in the Gas Distribution Department.
Our ideal candidate has thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards, safe working practices, policies, and regulations associated with the operation and maintenance of gas distribution facilities. The ability to organize and schedule assigned work and maintain relationships with customers, the general public, and other City departments is also required. Working knowledge of poly fusion and emergency stopping procedures is considered an asset. - Must possess a Grade 12 or high school equivalency diploma;
- Minimum of two to four years relevant experience as a Gas Distribution Technician;
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with acceptable driving record;
- An equivalent combination of management approved training and experience may be considered.
This position has also been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.
